Introduction
The Sky Bringup, LLC ("we", "our", or "us") operates the BirdLog AI mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.
Information We Collect
We are committed to collecting only the minimum information necessary to provide our service.
- Device Identifier: A randomly generated identifier used for service operation, abuse prevention, purchase entitlement, and first-party product analytics. It is not your advertising identifier.
- Usage Data: App events such as opening a screen, requesting identification, encountering an error, viewing Premium, or completing a purchase. These events are sent to our Gateway to understand reliability and product use.
- Selected Photo: The photo you explicitly choose for identification is sent through our Gateway to an external AI provider for analysis.
- Purchase Information: Handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store payment information.
Device Permissions
The App may request the following device permissions:
- Camera: Used to capture a bird photo only after you choose the camera action.
- Photo Library: Used to select an existing bird photo only after you choose the library action.
- Location: Optional. When granted, the coordinate can be attached to a sighting saved in your on-device field journal. Identification still works when you decline.
How We Use Your Information
- To provide and maintain the App's core functionality
- To protect the service from abuse and restore purchase entitlement
- To measure reliability and improve the App through first-party event data
Service Providers
We use the following services to operate BirdLog AI:
- The Sky Bringup Gateway: Receives the photo and required request context when you explicitly request an identification, then sends the analysis request to an external AI provider.
- Apple App Store: Handles all purchases and payment processing.
Data Retention
Saved sightings, notes, life list entries, and optional sighting locations remain on your device. Selected photos and request context are processed for the identification you request; operational records and first-party event data are retained only as needed to run, secure, and improve the service.
Data Security
All data transmitted between the App and our servers is encrypted using TLS (HTTPS). We implement industry-standard security measures to protect the limited data we process.
Children's Privacy
Our App is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can take appropriate action.
Your Rights
Since we collect minimal anonymous data, there is very little personal information associated with your use of the App. If you have any concerns about your data, you may contact us at any time to request information about or deletion of any data we may hold.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
