Frequently Asked Questions

How do I identify a bird with BirdLog?

Open the app, tap the camera button, snap a clear photo of the bird you see, and BirdLog's AI returns the species, confidence, and field marks in seconds.

Does BirdLog work offline?

Identification requires an internet connection because the AI model runs on our servers. Your saved life list and sighting log remain fully accessible offline.

Why does BirdLog ask for location access?

Location is optional. When granted, BirdLog tags each sighting with the GPS coordinate so your life list reflects where you spotted each species. You can decline and still use identification.

Is my sighting data stored on your servers?

No. Your life list, photos, and sighting log are stored only on your device. Photos are sent to the AI for analysis and discarded after the response is delivered.

Can I export my life list?

Premium users can export the full life list as CSV. Free users see species count and the most recent ten sightings.

Is there a daily usage limit?

Yes, to ensure service quality there is a daily limit of 50 identifications per device. The limit resets every 24 hours.

How do I cancel or refund a subscription?

Subscriptions and refunds are handled by Apple. Go to Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions on your device, or contact Apple Support directly.
